if you are installing from an USB flash driver, use an USB2.0 port instead of USB3.0 or close the driver prompt request and move the USB flash drive to another USB port.

    try a diskpart

    clean all

and then continue to install under UEFI (be sure that your USB flash drive is working under UEFI)

    no no...

    don't create any partition.

just a clear all and then continue with installation, without creating any partition.

if you are using UEFI, it will not install on NTFS partitioned driver.

Can you please check under BIOS which setting is on SATA?

    AHCI

    RAID

    are you booting under UEFI?

i can suggest to re-download the iso file from Microsoft servers:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

select to download the iso file and then use Rufus to create the bootable USB flash drive, using the same settings as on the home screen:

    Hello all,

I would suggest you download a program called rufus and also download the latest ESD windows 10 from here https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10 follow instructions carefully to download the latest windows 10 OS. Once you have windows 10 downloaded open rufus and set up you USB stick through that program i always use this and never had issues hope this helps. ps instructions on how to use rufus and download: https://rufus.akeo.ie/

    I have the same issue.

I have had to switch what passes for a bios to legacy mode as EUFI keeps telling me that I have no usb (even though the boot menu shows both a usb HDD and CD-ROM), booting from the CD/DVD in EUFI mode errors with device not fitted/installed at the POST (immeadiately after the hit any key to boot from CD/DVD prompt).

In legacy mode I can run the installer from any source. However as stated by others it craps out on a missing media driver after language and keyboard selection (only has American as a language).

The ISO was downloaded yeserday and I always use Rufus these days.

I have installed Windows hundreds of times (from 3.0 to 10) and have only had issues like this when installing Windows Server on HP Server hardware. All of the media in the Acer Laptop should run from the generic Microsoft drivers. So what is the issue.

    Hi,

Can u try to get pictures and post on here any errors and bios settings pls. also i would try installing a different OS and see if you get the issue as it might be windows 10 is not compatible with your machine its a bit of a long winded test but it will answer some question.

The machine already has windows 10 installed.

It was purchased in July 2015 running Windows 8.1 and was automatically updated within two weeks. It never worked correctly.

Despite the fact that the Pro version of Windows is the prefferred option for Laptops, Laptop manufacturers insist on installing the Home version. I have been trying to perform a clean install, a tried and trusted procedure when Windows gets flakey (might not improve Windows 10 because it seems to be flakey from the ground up).

However this is an issue with the hardware NOT windows.

The main issue is that the boot configuration in the prefferred EFI mode does not detect the boot devce (nothing to do with windows).

In EFI mode the USB drives are not found.

In legacy mode the device boots but the install does not complete.

    Hi,

Ok so from what u have said and from the pics you have provided i dont believe you have a hardware problem! So what i would do now is go back to the installation screen and keep going until you hit the error media driver missing. then exit out of the browse for driver screen and get back to the installation screen. unplug your usb device and plug into a different usb slot as i believe u have it plugged into a usb 3.0 port. installation media on a usb requires usb 2.0 only.

Hopefully this is the issue as i dont believe it is hardware because it is reading the installation media from the drive fine.

Plus i have also checked your system specs and i can see you have 4 usb ports. Two of the ports are usb 3.0 and one which is usb 3.1 and the last one is usb 2.0 so you only have 1 usb port that is usb 2.0!

Im now pretty sure this is your issue pls post back any other issues but i am positive this is your answer.
