Used my Acer Aspire R14 yesterday.  Hit the power button today and there is nothing.  Power light (orange) is on.  What is up with this.  Brand new.

    Please delete this number.

You own an Aspire R3-471T. Does the orange light flashes when you press on the power button?

Can't even figure out how to delete that post with the number. Ugh.

About the number, don't worry. I notified it to the moderator.

    1. Is the AC adapter plugged in since a long time?
    2. Do you still have the orange light?

Charging overnight.  Yes, the orange light is on, but then changes to blue. I'm assuming thw blue light tells me its fully charged.

  • ACE Posts: 10,402 Trailblazer

Yes the blue light means full charge.

Try this procedure and give me the feedback:

    1. Disconnect the AC adapter

    2. Wait few minutes

    3. Follow this procedure

Note: The battery reset pinhole is marked with this symbol AC-BRP on the bottom of the laptop.

PS: I will come back tomorrow.

Already tried that.  Even unscrewed the base and disconnected the battery pack.  No luck.  Afraid it might be the motherboard.  Merci for your time Laurent.

Have you try a clear Cmos (Cmos battery looks like a silver coin)?

No.  Doesn't that just keep the time and date current?

CMOS battery does a lot of things besides the date and time. Pulling or shorting the battery clears it back to the default.

Have you tried to reach Repair (hold down alt-F10 then press power).

Some models have a microswitch near one of the tiny screws in the center of the back if it gets loose the machine will become unresponsive (is like the interlock in a TV). Make sure all of the screws are tight but do not play Godzilla, they are not very strong.
