ICONIA W510 backspace / delete key issue

Hey,

On my Iconia W510 I have strange issue with delete / backspace buttons:

Both keys delete 2 characters (1 to the left and 1 to the right from selected space).

You can see pictures below.

This is the effect after hitting delete or backspace key while selected area is between 2 and 3 numbers.

Note: Issue appears only when I use attached keyboard.

Probles does not appear while using windows keyboard or external plugged via USB.

Hope you know how to fix the issue,

Waiting for your answer,

Regards,

Maycon

I can't think of any reason for that symptom except a hardware issue with the keyboard itself. Interally the key contacts are multiplexed such that pressing a key sends two electrical signals to the motherboard. If there's a short on the keyboard membrane then you could get three signals instead, looking like two keys are pressed at the same time. The backspace and delete keys are close to each other and would be candidates for pairing like that.

    Hello Billsey,

Thanks a lot for an answer.
So probably only replacing the keyboard would solve the issue?

Maybe I will try to open it and try to clean with alcohol then... I am not sure if there is an easy access to the keyboard interior.

Thanks anyway for your answer!Smiley Happy

I haven't looked at a W510 keyboard mechanics but you can often find teardown videos that show how they come apart.
