Why can't I update the drive on my K242HL monitor? It has broken Premiere Pro on Windows 10

Adobe told me to update my driver so I can start using Premiere Pro again. The monitor has suddendly stopped me being able to see my videos in PP. I downloaded the driver. There is no exe file to install, so I tried the Device Manager route, but it didn't install it either that way.

The monitor is only a year+ old but it says my Acer support has expired. Do I need to replace the monitor or can anything be done to fix it? It works fine in every other way. I just need to update the driver it seems.

Try downloading the driver here. If this does not work, could you please clarify what you meant by "device manager route?"

Berry, update driver monitor or graphic driver?

Also, did you uninstall the driver before you reinstalled it? Sometimes drivers don't reinstall properly unless they are uninstalled first.

I downloaded the driver but there is no way of instalkling it, double clicking on the files do nothing.

I don't know much about Device Manager so lets just ignore that to keep it simple.

I still have no way of downloading and installing a driver for my monitor. The link you gave me tookm me to the same download with no actionable files inside.

I did not uninstall the driver, but I would rather know that I have an installable driver before trying that, thanks.

There appears to be no installable driver for my Windows 10 laptop.

Graphics driver is up to date. It is the monitor which is breaking Premiere Pro.

I can't check what's inside the zip but i suppose there an . Inf file.
Right click and choose install and ok any prompt.
    If it doesn't work:
    Windows logo key + x
    Click on device manager
    Click on display monitor
Double click your monitor (probably labeled as PnP monitor)
Choose to update driver and browse to the path where the .inf file is and click OK or Install.

Doesn't work. Really weird how it can be working one day then it breaks Premiere Pro. Baffled. Will have to replace it.

edit: Just tried with a really old square monitor and Premiere Pro works fine. Looks like it really is an Acer compatibility issue.

    That's strange.

Is the monitor recognised correctly on device manager?
    I mean exact model name.

    Click on display monitor
Double click your monitor (probably labeled as PnP monitor)

    click on Driver tab

    Choose to update driver

    click to Browse your computer

click on Let me pick from a list

    clilck on Have a Disk

browse where the .inf file is and choose to install it.

Thanks but I have already updated the driver, the monitor is incompatible with Premiere Pro. I have already started browsing for a replacement.

Another thing I have noticed is that I can watch a h.265 mp4 video on my laptop screen on Windows Media Player, but when I drag the window to the Acer monitor it goes off and I get an error message:

"Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file."

It was DVI to Mini Display Port (with the white mini display port adapter).

Now I just tried VGA to an adapter. Same problems.

Yesterday my nVidia graphics card had a driver update and I thought it had fixed it but was wrong. Have now given up and bought a new monitor. Thanks anyway to all who replied, I was probably due an upgrade anyway.
