i have an acer aspire one D257-13685. I haven't used it in a quite awhile. It does charge up, the power comes on but it takes forever for browser to open. windows 7 is what's in it.  intel atom processo,r 1 gb DDR3 memory. battery 3 cell li-ion. storage 250 gb HDD. i took it to a computer tech and he told me it wasn't worth fixing.is there anything i can do to get it running again.  It really hasn't been used very much and i'd like to get it going again. it was a Christmas gift from hubby about 5 years ago. i hope i can do something so i can use it, i'd hate to lose it. that's lost cash for something not used very much.

thank you

cheri

First thing I did to my AOD 532h (earlier version than yours) was to upgrade the RAM from 1GB to 2GB (the max). 2GB is really the minimum for 32 bit Windows and 4GB is needed for 64 bit. 8GB stops almost all page swapping (slow).

With a modern OS and 1GB, the CPU is spending a lot of time swapping pages into and out of memory from disk.

If you like the system enough to spend about $25 for a 2GB memory card that would make a considerable difference. If you really like it, I'd consider a SSD.

That said my current travel computer is a R3-131T-P544 (11.6" screen). After uprading to 8GB and a SSD it runs 10-64 Pro like an i7. I've gotten used to a touch-scream.
