Hi, new to the forums. I have an Acer Predator AG5910,Windows 10 has corrupted it, won't start

Ever since installing Windows 10, I have experienced nothing but crashes, blue screen errors, shutdowns or restarts with no signal.  Microsoft support took control of my desktop a couple of days ago and installed the latest more secure version of Windows 10.  The next day I got this error message 'stop code unexpected trap kernel mode' and now I can't turn on the pc.  The start button comes on but without the blue light on it.  The monitor starts and doesn't get a signal so turns off.  A friend told me that either my motherboard is fried or my BIOS is corrupt.  He claims that Acer doesn't have a BIOS upgrade for my model of Predator to be able to install and use Windows 10.  Is this true?

well, since the monitor doesn't come on at all, that would mean your friend is most likely correct. if the BIOS won't even turn on, and display the ACER explore beyond limits logo, then your computer is most likely fried.

Do you think the CMOS can be reset as well as the battery in order to gain access to the BIOS?  My friend thinks this may work and then Windows 7 can be installed again.  I still need to know if there is an update for the BIOS for my model of Predator in order to install Windows 10.

There should be a CMOS reset switch, which may work, however, chances are the bios needs to be re-flashed. There should also be a switch that says "FLASH, or CLEAR, or RESET" or something of that nature, that will re-flash the BIOS. I think this is what you need to find. but, try the CMOS switch first. And yes, you can find updates to the bios here.

there's nothing like a reset or reflash switch on this PC.

by the way, you can try a CMOS reset.

you need to unplug the AC power cord, open the left side of your case (looking at front), look for a round silver battery (CR2032), take it off.

then press power button twice, wait 5 minutes and put everything back and then try to boot.

if it doesn't boot, probably the motherboard is gone.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

I am going to have my computer technician friend reset the CMOS for me and reinstall Windows 7, if the MOBO is not fried.  I never liked either Windows 8 or 8.1.  I will let you know how it works out; probably won't get done till late next week.

BTW, my model of Acer is not on this list for available BIOS updates.

I have my Acer back!  It is purring like a kitten now!

I reset the CMOS, cleared the memory sticks but stil could not get the pc to startup fully.   The start button would light up and the monitor would start then shut down because there was no signal.  However, the start button light was on and the inside fans were working.   My tech friend removed the memory sticks and Video Card to clear the errors and then replaced same, then updated the BIOS to the 2012 newest file available.   He cleaned out more dust from the fans that I didn't get when I cleaned them out .   He tried to get Windows 10 to work for several days but kept having severe issues so he saved my files and took the Acer back to Windows 8.1.

I will not attempt to install Windows 10 again because 8.1 will be supported until 2023.

Can anyone tell me if by not using the factory settings to return the Acer back to original operating system of Windows 7, would that change the name of the motherboard from AG5910 to G3600?   I used Belarc Advisor when I first installed 8.1 in 2013 and the motherboard was AG5910 and I used it after the reparis and it is G3600 now.  I also used several other utilitis and got the same result.    The motherboard was not replaced.
