Since the screen goes black when you plug in the monitor, perhaps a remote desktop session would allow you to see the screen? Try http://teamviewer.net

Install it to your computer, and take note of the password and the id.

Then install the TeamViewer app to either, another computer, a tablet, or a phone, and you should be able to remote control your computer.

Couldn't find a thread for this particular monitor, sorry!

Anyway i bought the k202hql monitor, however my model only has vga. so i bought a vga to hdmi adapter, and now when i plug it in to my computer the screen says "input not supported". I tried to fix this by playing with the display settings, and then I opened the AMD Catalyst Control Center, went to the hdtv section, and changed the screen resolution and the screen actually worked! however it was a horrible resolution, so i disabled it to enable a different resolution. After doing that it never worked again, then by mistake in the display settings i set it to only display on screen 2, and i can't change that setting without the monitor plugged in, but when i plug the monitor in both screens are black and the k202hql monitor says input not supported. I'm really not sure what to do here!

Actually managed to fix this. So the "input not supported" message appears not when the actual input isn't supported, but when the input resolution isn't supported. So I fixed this by opening the AMD Catalyst Control Center, setting the displays to extend each other, and changing the resolution of the acer monitor to something ridiculously low before opening it's own settings and maximizing it's resolution.
