I am using Acer aspire 5749Z laptop with windows 7, 32 for four years.  I have installed Qualcomm Atheros AR5B125 Wireless network adapter (downloaded from Acer official website for windows 7 32 bit operating system). I am trying to connect to wireless network but after connecting, a window appear with a message "Windows was unable to connect to the network."  I run windows troubleshooting and the resulting window showed a message "Problem with network adapter or access point". I am using the same wireless network for my samsung and micromax android phones and they are working well with the same wirless network.  Sometime  wireless network connects but after few minutes it disconnects. Also the wireless network disconnects if my router is in one room and I use the laptop from another room. After searching solutions for this problem on Acer support website and Microsoft support I uninstalled the wireless network adapter and reinstalled the driver but the problem is still persist. I format my laptop and again installed window 7 and wireless network adapter for many times but the  problem remain same. I tried the solution given below but it didn't worked too.

SOLUTION 1

Open computer management

Clicked on device manager

double clicked Atheros AR5BB125 Wireless Network Adapter

selected driver tab

selected Update Driver...

selected Browse My Computer...

selected Let me pick from a list of device drivers...

selected Have Disk...

navigated to the directory where the win 7 driver was and installed it

SOLUTION 2

Step 1: Uninstall the Network Adapter.

Follow these steps to Network Adapter.

  1. Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Search for Network Adapter and expand it.
  3. Right click on the Network Adapter and select Uninstall.

Steps 2:  install the latest driver. Check if you are able to access Internet. Please click on the correct link depending on the bit version of your computer.

Please help me to fix this problem.

Sometimes the best troubleshooting approach is that of "a process of elimination".

You can first try to eliminate your wireless router and environment (interference,etc...) as the source of the problem.  And then try to eliminate your wireless router's firmware or settings as the source of the problem.  Most wireless devices are compatible, but sometimes they are not.

Is it possible for you to take your computer to another location(s) and use a different wireless router/AP and see how it works there?  You could take it to a coffee shop.   A friend's house.

What's the model number of your wireless router and what firmware version do you have?  Is there a newer firmware version?

You could try to update the firmware on your wireless router.  You could try to reset your wireless router to factory defaults and use the default settings for testing purposes (if you own the wireless router/AP).

There's a good article in link below.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

I generally use InSSIDer from MetaGeeks to see what is going on but that is more of an environment analyzer.

Does the wireless adapter appear in Device Manager>Network Adapters ? Is the driver "working properly" ?

If so open Control Panel>Network and sharing center>Change adapter settings . Does the adapter appear there ? Double click on it. Is it Enabled ? Is there any connectivity.

Since no luck so far we need to start with the basics.
