Correct colors on Acer X193W?

I have an X193W that is apparently beginning to fail. It works fine once it is on, but it takes 10 or 20 tries to get it to STAY on for more than a few seconds after it has been off or asleep. So I bought another X193W exactly like it--but I had to buy it used because Acer no longer makes this perfectly good product. My new X193W starts right up, but the colors are bleached out, and the monitor's adjustments are not enough to compensate. There is a Color Calibration feature in Windows 7, which I use, but for some reason I cannot get the calibrations "saved." (I get a message from Windows saying "Turn off your other programs," but there are no other programs running.) Nobody on any of the many other forums I have posted on with this question has been able to help. All I want is a monitor just like my old one, with colors that are correct, or that I can adjust. Can anyone tell me WHY thishy this so hellishly difficult?
