May partition D be partitioned again?

Computer: Acer Aspire T3-715

OS : Windows 10 home 64b.

The capacity of the hard drive is one TB.  And the partition D has a space more than 900GB.

I am thinking about creating a partition F, cut a part off from partition D, for other uses.  But I'm afraid this might mess up the recovery system (happened one time before Win 10 and was warned by Acer not touching the original OEM partitions).

But it sounds unreasonable to have more than 900GB space sitting idle in a computer.

Does anyone has repartitioned the D drive?

Does it cause any problem, namely, unable to recover its out of factory status?

Thanks.
