Hello.

After extensive search in both the web and this forum I have come empty.

My gf was given this laptop for her bday. F15 572G with 1tb HDD & 940m GeForce GPU.

After installing the windows 10 pro, I began installing the drivers.

To begin with the wireless had been slow. I had downloaded all the drivers from the acer website and I planned to copy them to the laptop so as to continue the installation.

The download was with less than 50kb/s, while it could upload at 400kb/s.

Anyhow, when I went to install the gpu driver:

Both: VGA_nVidia_10.18.13.5354_W10x64_A from the Acer website but also from the GeForce site: official 372.70-notebook-win10-64bit-international-whql i get a BSOD.

By using whocrushed.exe, I managed to identify the BSOD cause as:

Now, oddly enough, in the computer manager, the GeForce card, appeared as "generic display adaptor", beneath intel graphic card and after it rebooted from another BSOD, it appeared as 940m, and once I ran again the GeForce driver it gave same BSOD:

When running the windows driver update service, it gives correct message: http://i.imgur.com/9IvUcNn.png

I did a sfc /scannow.

No problems. Result:

I installed all the rest of the laptop drivers from the asus website and no change.

Still the 940m does not seem to be functioning.

Lastly, here is a video of the whole video card installation progress and eventual BSOD

Later today or tomorrow, I will re-install w10.

Any advice or help would be appreciated.

  • Unless you're having problems with the graphics drivers, especially Nvidia, from Acers site, it is best not to update them from the mfrs site. Win 10 has had some problems with Nvidia drivers. Also, if you're installing drivers from "Asus", they are not correct.
