Should the laptop (V5-571-6679) power on even without a battery?

The battery stopped charging recently and by the time I noticed, it was at 10% so I shut down the laptop and tried different outlets etc. It won't charge or even power on since since then. Does this mean it's the cable, the battery, our something else?

Thank you

  • I would test the power supply. The output should be 19 volts. Get a multimeter set to DC volts. The center pin in the plud is positive and the metal outside in neg.

I have tested the output and it was 19v. I also checked the connection contact and it was good too. What should I do next?

    Thank you

  • If the power supply is ok and the battery won't chsrge, it's either a bad battery or you have problems with the charging port on the motherboard or other motherboard problems.
