Aspire V5 122p-0408 randomly shuts off/wont boot
Recently Ive had an issue where my V5 just shut off out of nowhere and would not boot up. I would do the battery reset, and sometimes it would work, other times it wouldnt. The times where I have been able to get it toboot up, I'd use it for a few minutes and then it would again randomly shut off.
Now it seems to be stuck in a constant cycle of getting to the Acer screen, and shutting off. It will not get past this screen, and I cannot access the BIOS... computer will not stay on long enough.
Battery is good and takes a full charge, cooling fan works, and I hear the HDD start to spin. Could it be a bad MB?
Thanks

Could be MB, bad HDD, or the area between the fan and the heatsink could be blocked and you can't see it by looking in the exaust port.
Have you checked the temps when it it running? Download http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/
and see if it's getting hot.

Problem is, it won't stay on long enough to really do anything to it now. I know the exhaust is clean as I've removed the back cover and cleaned it all out already. Even went and put new thermal paste on the processor. Sometimes it will stay on, but the screen is black. I'd love to get this thing working as its a decent little laptop. Just don't want to dump much no ey into it0

Think I may hav actually found the problem. I took the back cover off again and rigged the back cover switch to be depressed. Once I did that, I switched on the laptop and immediately unplugged the cable leading from the power switch to the mb. Once I did that, the laptop booted normally and is staying on. Even did a few restarts withthe cable unplugged with no issue. So it looks like the problem is the power switch? Thats where I am leaning right now.

Looking at the power boards here, I can see how it could get damaged.
