What I've tried: uninstalling every trace of drivers (registry etc) and reinstalling.

Updating the driver manually with the Acer driver download.

Cable I'm using: Dvi-D Dual link that came with the monitor.

GPU: Amd r7 250 1gb ddr5 diamond boost (supports dual link DVI-D, HDMI and VGA). Can push over 200 frames on the game I want to use it for.

Problem: Can't get over 60 hz I only have options of 59 and 60. However on 1280 x 720 it will go to 130 hz max anything over out of signal. It will only reach over 60 hz through AMD catalyst custom resolution but on two low resolutions and on the catalyst page it says maximum reported refresh rate 75 before I touch custom resolutions. I can also go to 130 hz on 1024 x 768 but will say incorrect cable use the one that came with your monitor. If I change it to 144 it will go out of signal. I've bought the monitor from Bestbuy and thought the issue was a defective cable/or monitor so I returned it. I bought a new one from Amazon and turns out I still have the same issue.

Does my graphic card not support it even though it supports DVI-D Dual link and can push the frames? I've seen other people use 144 hz with my exact graphic card or with even worse gpus. So I was guessing it's not that.

Was I just unlucky to get a defective cable twice? should I order a new one.

Any ideas? or suggestions.
