Is this most likely the LCD needs replacing or the Data cable to the Motherboard?

  • Hello,

Could you develop your question? E.g. by moving the display?

What model do you own exactly?

It can happen when moving the screen but happens by itself most of the time, i can play long gaming sessions and it is okay, mostly happens when browsing,or on desktop.

    Acer V3-771G

    Windows 7 64 bit

    Latest BIOS.

  • When you'll have a black screen again, press on the LCD bezel in the middle of the Acer logo and the right corner. Give me the feedback. Hoping my sentence is clear!Smiley Happy

I have tried all these things, i am convinced it is a broken cable or some other damage as it goes black every few seconds.

  • Who has replaced the screen?

Do you need the part number of the LCD cable?

I replaced screen myself, but is still going black. I might take it to a repair shop but most of them charge you just for looking at the laptop. (not fixing it).

  • Stupid question:

Did you remove or disconnect the battery before to do anything?

  • Did your laptop display correctly through/via the VGA or HDMI connector?

Do you know the brand and the p/n of the new panel?

    Plug and Play ID......... AUO209D
    Data string.............. B173HW02 V0
    Serial number............ n/a
Manufacture date......... 2011, ISO week 0

The VGA board is not defective and that the issue comes probably from the cable.

Have you re-installed the chipset and VGA drivers?

Tomorrow I will check the compatibility of your new panel.

In Drivers, what is the difference between Intels HD display driver and the Standard VGA

    Graphics Adaptor?

Could the Problem be the Intel display driver?

In Drivers, what is the difference between Intels HD display driver and the Standard VGA

    Graphics Adaptor?

    • Intel HD Graphics driver for the processor (Integrated Graphic Processor)
    • Standard VGA Graphics Adaptor for the Nvidia graphic board
    • As you know, you can switch between both graphic processors.

Could the Problem be the Intel display driver?

May be but I can't confirm. Re-install the chipset and the VGA drivers and check via HDMI.

Don't know if this is cause or effect but when the problem happens a 'Generic Non PnP Monitor' driver appears in Device Manager, creating two monitor drivers (Pnp and Non Pnp).

  • Hmmm you should read this topic and especially the solution... Ok it's a desktop but it's the same "principle"

Does the cable require any soldering?

Are there any guides to fitting the cable?, i saw a video on you tube but it was speeded up about 100 times,

hard to see what he was doing.

  • Hello,

No. As you can see on this picture, all ends of cable have connectors apart the camera or the mic.

I think this one is correct. I agree, the unscrewing is fast but this is not the most important. I would check the connector of the screen cable located in the bottom of the laptop.
