Acer Aspire Switch Alpha 12 SA5-271-55Q6

I am running the latest windows 10 version.  I noticed when the tablet is on battery that when I open a window, such as a file explorer, the screen will brighten about 3 to 4 steps brighter after the window is opened.  Turning off auto dimming does not effect this.  It does not do it on battery.  Any ideas?

thanks

Brendin

IIRC the latest Windows gradually dims the display when on battery. Opening a window takes it back to normal, at which point it'll start dimming again.

I had the same issue intermittently.

I found the following suggestion in a different post that you may try:

Its actually part of the Intel HD Graphics options. Try this:
Right click on the desktop, and go to "Graphics Properties". From there select "Power", then "On Battery". There should be an option for "Display Power Saving Technology". Hit DISABLE. Save and exit.

Please let us know if this works for you.

This did the trick!  Thank you as it was starting to bug me the flickering.

Previously I had gone into Settings>System>Display and changed the "Change brightness automatically when lighting changes" and figured that would have done it.  Well it didn't.  Then I considered returning the PC to Costco since the dimming AND brightening "stepping" up or down that the screen would do while watching youtube or sitting idle on any screen seemed to do.  It was driving me crazy and was my biggest complaint about this unit.  I went to Best Buy to see if they had noticed this on other laptops and they hadn't seen this before.  I didn't think to check the Intel HD Graphics but after making the adjustment you detailed within its settings, it completely corrected the issue!!

Although the other answer that someone marked as "the solution" may be relevant, it didn't explain how to fix the issue.  Your response was better and should be marked as the solution because it correct the problem.

    Thanks BarrryB!
