ES1-131 beeping

In the last few days my laptop has started randomly beeping. It's coming from somewhere inside, not sure if there's an internal speaker or something else.

Pattern is 3 pause 3 pause 2

Don't see any errors or other problems, but the beep concerns me.

  • It's either the cmos battery or something with the Ram. Is all your ram showing up in Windows?

Ram is all showing up. but I did replace the factory ram, I'll run a memtest and also make sure it's seated properly.

Went back to the factory ram and still the same issue. How would I go about checking if it's the cmos battery? disconnect the main battery for an hour or so and see if it still keeps the settings?

I should also mention that the beep isn't during bios. It's just randomly while the comptuer is running.

  • Do you keep the air intake screen on the bottom clean, blow out the dust with a can of air once in a while?

While Acer beep code 3 beeps means something with the memory, that is during post before it boots up.

Lots of info on your problem and the consensus seems to be heat, video card, or a bad bearing. Another said not enough power to USB connected devices.

Download http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/  and monitor it for a while.

    There is a internal speaker.

There is no air intake screen, and no fan. From what I recall the es1-131 is supposed to cool via convection. And no real dust at the moment as this laptop is only 3 months old.

As I said before, the beep occurs intermittently while in the OS and not during post. Happens in both windows and linux, so I'm assuming it's not OS or driver related. I have no usb devices plugged in.

Other than the beep I don't see any problems. I'll follow your advice of trying to monitor the temperature and see how that pans out.
