Extensa 5210 4GB RAM

Hello everybody, today a customer asked me to upgrade his notebook, an Extensa 5210, to 4GB of RAM.

After checking online on a few forums and reading the user manual (specifications section) I have found that the notebook should support a max amount of 4 gigs of SODIMM DDR2-533 or 667. However if I try to replace the 2 SODIMMs onboard (2x1GB) with any combination of modules wich sums higher than 2GB, the Extensa won't even boot to BIOS. The display remains black and doesn't even beep. Installing only 1 2GB module in one of the 2 available slots works fine, however.

Why ? Is there a mistake on the instructions manual stating that it supports 4GB  ? Are there specific SODIMMs for the aforementioned model ?

Thank you for your kind support !

K.
