Acer VN7-792G SSD/RAM upgrade

Hello, I did find a few threads about this but for other models, so I take my chance.

I would like to buy a new ~240go SSD M 2 to upgrade my laptop.

Can anyone confirm that there is actually a M 2 port inside ? I believe yes since I watched a few videos, but the laptop seller's website does not talk about it, so i'm confused.

Is there any better SSD than another for compatibilty with the 792G ? I would like to use it as my main drive with Windows on UEFI in it, and the HDD I had will be used for storage.

Same goes for RAM, what is the maximum RAM supported by this laptop ?

I can confirm there is an M2 slot in my 592G laptop, which is the same as yours only it has a 15inch display.

Read more about my experience upgrading the laptop and watch my video review to see inside the laptop here:

    Hi,

There is an M.2 slot on the motherboard with NvME support.

And on the acer webpage there is written the maximum amount of RAM: 32 GB.

    http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/NX.G6TAA.001

Acer tells you that in the most 792G's (including the model above) there is an HDD and an SSD. It does not mention explicitly that is an M.2 one or not. But in some cases, it mentions this fact by  telling you that the SSD is NvME capable.

Thanks, that's all I wanted to know !

Edit : so you can confirm that any SSD will do ? I'm planning to buy SSD Samsung Serie 850 EVO M.2 - 250 Go, no problemo ?

    Hi,

The 850 M.2 will work fine. But if you want some more performance you can go with samsung 951. It's more expensive, but the speeds are much higher.

However, if you will use a 951 from samsung and you want to use NVMe, I think you will not be able to clone the HDD to the SSD because you need special drivers for windows to work on NVMe, thus you will need a clean install of windows to the new SSD.
