Hi,

I have just received the laptop, installed all the drivers from the DVD and unfortunatelly there is no webcam detected (also not in Device Manager). I am trying to find a separate driver for the camera, but no success. Cannot even realise what camera is it.

Any idea if this is not the correct approach? Any suggestion is welcomed.

Thank you!

The webcam works, try using a program which requires or uses the webcam and you will find out that it works. Or just type in 'camera' in cortana. Also there isn't a driver for the webcam given by acer, the driver is installed automatically by windows 10. If the webcam doesn't work at all uninstall the driver you have installed and then restart the PC and wait for windows 10 to find the driver.

Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Forgot to write if this doesn't fix your problem there is a bunch of other things that might fix it.

Are you sure your webcam doesn't appear in device manager, it is in imaging devices.

on device  manager, tick also "show hidden devices" under View tab.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

    Hi,

I have managed to fix it. In Device Manager an USB was appearing as having some issues (marked with "!"). I have uninstalled it completlly and then Windows detected the camera after a restart.

Now it appears in "Imaging devices".

    I hope it works!

    BR,

    Thanks for your answers  :-)

    My computer is a G9-791.

I've tried a lot of things. Basically, I've tried everything of this page : http://troubleshooter.xyz/fix-usb-device-not-recognized-device-descriptor-request-failed/ since this is exactly my problem :

The webcam appears with a "/!\ descriptor request failed"

    But nothing worked.

The webcam used to work when I started to use my computer. I don't know since when it doesn't work. A few weeks maybe. Maybe a windows update ?

    Thanks for your help anyway.

Go to Device Manager and uninstall the device marked with "!". Then restart the Windows and it will detected the camera.

In case is not there, right click on "Imaging devices" and select "Scan for harware changes". Should work after this.

If it is there but not working, try "Update driver software"

Has anyone got proven and permanent solution for this error? I tried everything as mentioned in this thread but no help. Even followed few more guides but they doesn't seem to be providing permanent solution
