Hi,
When I got my tablet last year I downloaded McAfee on it as I had two years through my laptop and you are able to install it on six other devices... All was well, but then a few weeks ago my tablet wasn't holding it's charge and I wasn't able to re charge it so it went in for repair under warranty.
Got it back yesterday with a service report staying that the main board had gone and they had installed a new one which ment I would be starting afresh! Anyway when I went to install McAfee onto my tablet with the second year as the first had expired whilst the tablet was being repaired...
I couldn't work out why it wouldn't download and kept saying that I needed to buy a new subscription, well I already had a subscription in place but the even more strange thing was that a message was stating that my virus protection expires on 10th August 2016!
After a very long call to McAfee I was getting increasingly angry with the stupidity of the tech support. It took them ages to even recognise that I had a new subscription anyway.
As the call got more heated on my part that she couldn't even say that I would have any cover after 10th Aug, I must have told her a dozen times that I shouldn't have to buy another year.
Then finally she slipped in that I had McAfee already installed on my tablet and that was why I couldn't download it. So I asked if this was the one that expired an 10th.and if this was the case why would it would expire the very day I got my tablet back and as it was to expire why couldn't I just download my own subscription.
Then she delivered the killer blow, My own McAfee wasn't compatable with my tablet! How did she come to that conclusion as it had been running just fine before being repaired! She then said that the antivirus that was already installed was called, "McAfee Mobile Security" and I would have to pay £30. to renew it... I don't have £30. to do this!
I am so angry and upset by this that I ended up telling her that this would be the last time I ever used MacAfee again and that it sucked and hung up!
Now my question is has anyone ever come across this before and also am I able to uninstall the existing antivirus that has expired and just download my own?
Sorry for the long post and Many thanks in advance...
Laura...
