How much DDR4 Ram can I upgrade to in my Acer Aspire E5-553-14YR and how many ram slots are there?
Thanks for all the help Brummyfan.
You have two slots and could go up to 32GB of memory.
Thanks for the awnser. Do you have the same machine?
Thanks again for the awnser brummyfan do you know if iI need to buy any certain brand of memory.i have a picture of the brand thats in there now
No, I don't have this particular laptop, you can buy any brand memory as long as they have matching specs, download
CPU-z to find out the current specs of your memory, then compare the specs with the intended purchase.
EDIT: Crucial, Samsung, Hynix, Kingston are my suggestions if you are looking for reliable brands but get the cheapest ones as there's not much difference between them.
The specs says DDR4-1866
I want to upgrade with Crucial DDR4-2133, 16GB x 2pcs.
Is that going to be OK?
Yes, you can.
I also have few other questions:
- CPU Options
In Malaysia, I don't see unit with FX being sold. Only A12.
How big performance gain FX-9800p compared to A12 9700? I see it's not much. Can anyone confirm?
- CPU Virtualisation
I would like to run VirtualBox/VM Ware with 64bit guest OS.
Is that possible with the locked AMD-V option?
Does A12 version have the SSD slot physically?
So I can buy my own SSD, install it, then move OS from HD --> SSD?
I really need this info, as it will definitely a decision point if I should buy this laptop.
If you are looking for mSATA connections, I don't think it is in this model but you could use the DVD drive space for additional storage with a suitable caddy, I have no clue about virtual machines, so you need to wait for an answer from someone experienced with VM-Ware. As for the CPU choice, there's not much difference between them and suggest you to go for an Intel CPU.
not sure if it's mSATA, but the FX version includes SSD + 1TB HDD.
So I was under assumption that the A12 version is exactly the same hardware.
Only CPU is A12 and no SSD, but we can add our own SSD.
Is my understanding correct?
