HI there,

Just bought this Predator G9-791 laptop and while it worls well, at times various keys on the keypad simply dont respond..after some pressure on them they start again..and when i push on the surface of the laptop

They range from the G,H and M keys (most of the times) to the space bar and the delete key..

I had read that it could be a fault with the physical uinit in that prerssure needs ot be applied fomr the back to make them work again.. it doesnt happen all the time but enough to make it annoying

Any ideas? I have updated the bios but this feels like a phgysical fault not a spfteware fault

Cheers and thanks

Doug

From my previous experience repairing keyboards, I would day is the rubber membrane that's at fault. It's moulded into a slight cone shape, to keep each contact point raised off the circuit a little. Rarely they can get stuck at an angle, or the contact pad in the top of the cone in that key location can come loose and shift, causing the contact point to be off target, and may require more pressure to "squash" the contact pad in order to make contact.

    Sound about right?

Ah indeed it does sound right!

Sometimes it happens to other keys as well then, like now for example, they are all working fine with little to normal pressure...i dont get it...its not all the time, seems to be when i first boot up..

Then, if the space bar doesnt respsond i have to push the area around it on the machine for it to regoster, then it seems to work fione liek all the other keys.. very random!

Acer have asked me to take it back as under warranty so hopefully a new keyboard will dot he trick

Thansk fort he reply, much appreciated
