missing ram?

I have an Acer Aspire V5-571PG that had 6GB of ram. However today i was looking at the basic information about my computer and it says that I only have 2GB installed memory (1.80GB usable). My computer has been running quite slow lately and i don't understand what is happening. (I don't know if this changes anything but for the record I "refreshed" it a few weeks ago)

Any help will be greatly appreciated

    Hello,

First you could check the total amount in the bios setup utility:

    1. Start up your laptop
    2. Press [F2] when you'll see the Acer logo
    3. Check in the Main tab - Total memory
    4. Press [Esc] to exit

Hi, thank you for your answer,
Is there any other way I can check? I tried with the F2 key several times and nothing happened.

In this case, try from Windows like this:

Could you give me the first ten characters of the computer serial number (S/N)? Only the first ten.

    Hello,

    1. Try loading the default settings in the bios setup utility:
      - To access to this utility press [F2] or watch the video stated
      - In the utility, press [F9] to load default settings
      - Press [F10] to save and exit
      - Your laptop will restart automatically
    2. Would you be able to access to the memory compartment?
    3. Do you use Windows 8 or did you perform an upgrade like Windows 8.1 or 10?

    Hi,
1)I loaded the default settings but I think nothing happened
2)I would rather not try to open up my laptop because I've never done this and will probably just break something...
    3)I've upgraded to Windows 8.1

Thank you again for helping me

    Hello,

In this case, I suggest you to go in a repair center. It would be interesting to switch the memory modules (2Gb+4Gb).

    Hi,

Try to use CPU-Z (http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html ) to check if you are even able to detect the 4 GB stick in your slot with this software. It can be the cause that the 4GB stick has failed. In either case further diagnosis can be done just if you open up your notebook.
