Hello,

I am new to this forum

I have a relative who is unfortunately struck with ALS and we are trying to provide him with a means to communicate with us so we would like to get him the Tobii PCEye:

http://www.tobii.com/en/assistive-technology/global/products/hardware/pceye/

I have identified the Acer Aspire Z3771 as the All-In-One PC that best fits my budget but will need to make a few changes to it in order for this to work and would like to know if anyone has done this before and if so, how. I have not had the chance to physically examine the PC because it has to be ordered online otherwise this could have been a lot easier.

1) Remove the base. The PCEye will need to be fitted here instead of this base. Is this simply an aesthetic component that can be removed or does it have a function?

2) The Z3771 will then need to be fitted onto a stand - Rehadapt Floor Stand :http://www.rehadapt.de/en/PDFs/Floor...WB.pdf#zoom=75

and therefore requires a VESA Mounting system. On the Acer website it says that this device comes with a Mounting Kit but I have not been able to find any further information on this (dimensions etc..). Some custom work will be necessary although I am not too sure what that will be. I am guessing it involves modifying the holes in the bracket that hold the PCEye such that it can be attached in the same place as the mount for the stand with slightly longer screws ?

I guess what I'm asking here is if the Aspire Z3771 has the correct holes for the mounting system and if so, can you provide me with the dimensions 100mm x 100mm or 75mm x 75mm etc...

I would really appreciate any information you can provide

Thanks

I'll try to answer the questions for you:

    1. The front base upper edge contains the power button, speakers and IR port.

    2. The VESA mount points on the rear of the unit are 100 x 100.

Hope that helps!  Best wishes for the search for the right computer.
