So why exactly does Acer not offer LCD replacement on the XB271HU???????

If there is anyone on here that can suggest anything or help me at all it would be much appreciated.

Some of us have kids and pets running around and accidents happen. I have a crack in the LCD panel that is only visible when the screen is turned on.

I called Acer to set up a repair. Guess what? They don't offer any type of screen replacement for this $730 flagship monitor. I told them I have no problem paying whatever it costs to replace it and they said that they can't help me and that I would just need to buy a new one.

I found that the LCD part number is m270dan02.6, but no one in the world seems to carry it. I've been sitting here making calls all day and no one has it. I've searched many international websites and have found other variants of the m270dan02 displays, but none that is m270dan02.6.

So I guess I'm out of luck. I can't get myself to drop another $700 for another one.

Moral of the story, lock up this monitor when it's not in use if you have any other living creatures in your home. If anything happens to it you will toss all that money out of the window. This monitor still has all the protective plastic on it and is in mint condition. Just a small crack in the screen and now it's completely useless. Just an expensive paperweight.

I'm going to give you a guess.  I don't work for Acer.

By the time you pay for the part and labor plus tax and shipping, you'll be better off buying a brand new one.  I'm not even sure what kind of labor is involved.  Sorry to hear about your misfortune.  Looks like a nice monitor.

Edit: The part in link only has 90 day warranty and doesn't include labor, tax, and shipping.

    Edit2: deleted link

Wow I'm surprised you found one. For that price I could get a refurbished XB271HU from Acer and still have a hundred dollars in my pocket left.

As for the labor, it's stupidly easy. I took the monitor apart in 10 minutes. Would take me another ten to install a new panel.

I appreciate your reply. Would be nice to here from someone from Acer on this though.

I wouldn't seriously consider buying a part for that amount of money that has a 90 day warranty just to save $30.  A new monitor has a 3 year warranty.  I didn't think anyone would seriously consider buying that part w/ a 90 day warranty when I posted it.....since you can get new one from newegg for a little bit more with $4.99 shipping.

Totally. I wasn't saying that I was interested in buying that part. I was saying that I could buy an entire refurbished monitor for $550 from Acer.

Forgive my ignorance of the state of things in the USA (Where I guess you are from since you're talking in dollars) but here in the UK, when I purchased my X34 I called up the people I have my home contents insurance with and checked with them if it was covered for accidental damage.  They said it was and I didn't even have to name it as a specific item of extra value.

So my situation here would be that if someone was in my house, even a guest, and the monitor got damaged through an accident, I could claim on my home contents insurance and they'd either source a repair (Acer would say they can't do this) or replacement for me.  I doubt my premium would even go up at all because I've never claimed for anything on my home insurance to this date.

Do you have anything like this in the US too?  If so it might be worth a shot Smiley Happy
