I just got this laptop a month ago, It's past return policy at the store by 3 days and they refuse to exchange or fix it without a giant fee.

Just a few days ago, a ticking started on the fan. I can hear it when it's idling and a bit when it's under load, When I turn on the "Maximum Fan Speed" button, I don't hear it at all but my temps seem higher than usual. I'm assuming one of the fans is dead or something, what are my options at this point since the store won't do anything to assist me? Is there a way to check if the fan is indeed dead?

You can actually tell if the fan is dead, by putting your hand behind the laptop ( left side + right side )

if its ticking too much, try to run it always on max speed, if this issue does not get resolved after running it on high speed for a while, the defected fan has to be replaced by acer, and this should be covered but the warranty...

So there's only two fans? one on each side? That's good to know, I mean, it blows the air out so I'm guessing it's a good sign that it's still kicking.

Yup there is only 2 fans + 1 fan if you put the frostcore on the left side, gaming laptop fans are pretty tough, they have a life span of 3 to 6 years, so ticking is not a big issue if you run it @ max speed for a while and then reduce speed and check, do it every 12 hours and check, keep me updated...
