Today I received a "Dear Customer" letter from Acer. Evidently there was "unauthorized access" to their "ecommerce site between May 12, 2015 and April 28, 2016." My name, address, credit card number, expiration date, and three-digit security code was compromised.
Seriously, Acer! What kind of operation are you guys running that allows ALL this information to be stored together, let alone available to hackers? Why even store the three-digt security code? Ask for it for EVERY TRANSACTION and DO NOT store it! This is extremely basic knowledge in this day and age. People should be fired for this.
Acer, I'm looking around my office and I see three Acer tablets and an Acer laptop. I will NEVER purchase another product from Acer, as I've lost all confidence in the organization's ability to deliver quality products if it doesn't understand basic ecommerce security.
Thanks for wasting my time, Acer. Now I have to contact my credit card company.
