Just done the upgrade to Windows 10. Think I need drivers for ACER ASPIRE 5552 ??

Hi guys

I am trying to help a friend get her ACER ASPIRE 5552 working OK with Windows 10.

We took a gamble that the W7 to W10 upgrade would be ok but we hit a couple of glitches to overcome.

We want to back it up asap once it is functioning correctly.

1.

Can someone please point me to where I can get the right driver for Ethernet and WifI because the wifi does not seem now to be working correctly.

2.

But are there ALSO any other drivers that people who have upgraded the 5552 have found necessary to download and install - e.g. Chipset, sound, etc...?  ....Obviously it makes sense for us to ask those whove already done it....

3.

Also, she has an HP printer which now does not seem to communicate. I guess we need to go to HP site and download - unless - are there are known issues?

Thanks in advance for any help guys

Agreed. Now I suggest that you first check the Win10 device manager and note the devices and model numbers that seem to have issues. Since the laptop no longer has functioning network adapters, you must do a google search from another computer for updated Win10 drivers that you can download for each of the problem devices. For some systems, this can be a formidable and lengthy process. If it were mine, I'd upgrade back to Win 7 just as fast as I could.

    Thank you Jack,

Much appreciated. She will probably do that.
Hot off the press, this morning we temporarily uninstalled Avast.

The result was that after the reboot, everything seems to be working!

So, I dont know whether the problem was attributable to a clash between defender and avast, but she is breathing a sigh of relief (so am I), and she is discussing the return to W7.   .... First, she wants to just get a feel of W10 .....   Smiley Happy

Thank you again for your help.

Great going! Sometimes hard to remember these things might be running in the background, ready to mess up legit installations. Let us know if all continues to function well and if/when you're ready to move back up to Win7 on that 5552! 8^)
