True format of usable C portion

I am attempting a true clean format of the usable portion of C drive. ACER has carefully blocked any attempt by user

to do a true clean install of windows 10. Any help on overriding the format block on the C drive would be appreciated.

I don't think you've got your terminology quite right, but you have clearly indicated that you want to do a clean install of Windows 10. That is absolutely possible. I'm assuming that you want the "free upgrade" from Win7 OR Win8 ... of course those OSs must be legally installed to qualify for the free offer.

My suggestion would be that if ever want to max your RAM or upgrade to an SSD then now is the time to do it, before the upgrade to Win10. That's because there is a hardware hash calculation involved in validating for the new OS.

First, backup any files you want to "take with you." That includes stuff on the desktop, in any directories that you have created, any docs / photos / videos, etc. Get them on an external HDD or burn them to a DVD (etc.).

Then follow the directions at TenForums (URL below). That method worked quite well for me with a "Clean Install Windows 10 Directly without having to Upgrade First." I've got an Aspire 5742G and the only problems were with device drivers. I now have no Bluetooth connectivity, but I never used it before. I now have a generic touchpad driver and cannot stop tap-to-click from happening.

Go here and follow the directions carefully ...

    Good Luck!

By the way, I don't think it is Acer that is stopping you from "overriding the format block on the C drive." It is Windows itself.
