Aspire One 255E memory upgrade

I bought an Aspire One 255E that came with 1 GB DDR3 memory installed, when I bought it it said it could support 2 GB of memory.  I would like to purchase and install 2 GB of memory but searching on their website I see that they don't support upgrading it to 2 GB?  It is already out of warrenty, so I don't care about voiding the warrenty, but why would the Acer site say they don't support upgrading the memory, when I bought it it said I could, now they say I can't?

Any ideas on this?  Can I just purchase a 2 GB memory module and install it myself?

Thanks for any pointers!

  Sincerely,

    Peter

Acer does not provide support for upgrading the memory on this system, because it involves disassembly of the system.  I apologize for any inconvenience.

If you do decide to go ahead and do it anyway.. I can give you some tips!

First you need to remove the keyboard via the clips at the top, then there are 4 (I think) screws that you undo to release the bottom cover (they are labelled), then you put a tool through the hole, bottom right (also labelled) to pop the bottom cover off.. then you have access to the Memory slot from under the netbook.

Putting it back on is just the reverse.

It's pretty easy but can understand the offical Acer response Robot Happy

Good luck. Don't blame me if you break it haha Smiley Happy
