Bought an Acer Predator 17 G9-791-78CE factory refurbished and wanted to know how best to test it while still in warranty.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/252385128782

Received it a few days ago and it's resting CPU temp is about 51C while the system is lower usually 32C. CPU Temp sometimes drops to 41-45C

Played Heroes of the Storm tutorial at Max settings and saw CPU rise to 79C. Is this ok? Tried Dota 2 tutorial and it jumped to 85C

How can I test that my machine handles temps well and other similar test for a gaming laptop?

Should I be concerned with a 48-56C CPU Temp when browing Chrome and doing miinimal things like that?

How to test? You can test your overall performance by downloading and launching benchmarks (cpu by itself can be put to stress by Intel Extreme Tuning Utility), cpu can be monitored be hwmonitor or hwinfo (every core and package).

Well, to me those temperatures are to high. When web browsing my temps are below 40C (temps in room are around 22C). It might be some sort of defect in cooling system, cpu or something is off with thermal paste (later is most likely).

Personally I would return it for repair (most likely for repaste).

Temperature is ok.  You can for e.g. test with Furmark. There're 2 Stresstests.

You'll get about 99C for Prozessor. Then it throttels. It should never be higher.

The GPU is between 78-85 fullspeed.

My old Acer V3 has similar temperatures and it's almost 5 years  old.

If you have higher temperatures around, you can set the cool boost via Quick Access. But it's pretty loud.
