If you have a TV tuner in the system, that may be possible.

I'm not sure what you'd be connecting the HDMI cable to ...

The "out" alternatives on my pay TV (Mystar HD) are 1. HDMI 2. ordinary AV (RCA Conectors?) 3 conponent Video.  My TV is connected by the HDMI as well as to the local TV transmissions. On Saturday nights I want to watch the AFL on pay TV but my wife wants to watch local ABC TV. So I would like to be able to transfer the Pay TV signal to my computer in the same room. I do not have a TV tuner for my computer but that should not be necessary as the output fromthe Mystar HD box is video. So the questoin is: does the HDMI port on my computer work as an inwards connection to take in the ouput from my Mystar HD and dsplay it?

In the end I suppose the question is: how do I display AV on my computer....the AV could be from a DVD player also.

My computer is a Aspire V3-571G using Windows 7 OS (64 bit).

The HDMI port on the notebook is out, not in.

You can easily play optical media with the optical drive of the system, either DVD or Blu-ray (varies by system.)

There are no inputs from your TV, cable box, external DVD player, etc.
