This was a strange problem I had with my 3 month old Iconia One B3-A20 and I cannot find anything like this on the net, therefore I thought best ask the forum.

I shut down the tablet as it was running slow (suspect it was a problem caused by 8Ball pool app) and thought it should would benefit from a reboot as it hadn’t had one in weeks. (Pity there is no reboot option available, please fix that in the future software releases acer!)

The tablet switched off, but then failed to response to the power switch to power up. I tried all the combinations of power and volume buttons from 5 to 120 seconds etc nothing would make it power up.

I then tried charging the tablet just in case, although the battery was at 60% when I powered down.

Still no response, the tablet remained a brick and completely dead for 4 days, regardless of what I tried (although I did not try removing the battery as suggested online as it would affect the warranty)

Then on a last attempt it powered up without any problems with the battery still at 60% and has been working fine ever since.

I have completed scans for malware / virus etc, I now that’s a rare thing for Android but had no other explanation for the events that happened.

Everything is clean and the power button works fine to wake up the tablet from sleep mode without fail.

So the questions are:

1.     Why did the tablet fail to response to cold startup?

2.     Why did nothing happen when trying to charge it when it was ‘dead’?

3.     Is it ever safe to switch off again or will it die completely?

Thanks in advance for any help provided.
