I tried using alt-f10 but I get to a blue screen with error code 0xc000000f

Is there any way I can re-install windows 8.1 now?

If so, will I have problems with the activation key ?

I have windows 10 on it atm ( I can still boot into windows 10)

You would need to use recovery media to reload 8.1. Send me a PM and I will work with you to get some media ordered.

    HI,

My Switch 11 was stock on pc diagnose saying "Reparing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete". Its been 15hours on this state.

Could you please let me know what the cause of this? Is my SSD dead? If its dead, where can I buy a new SSD drive and who can replace it.

Hope you can help me on this.

    Thank you.

Hello, i hope you still read older threads. I have the exact problem as yessirsir00. Alt+f10 gives me error 0xc000000f. How can i reset my computer if my recovery is lost?

@Mika_S Is the D2D recovery option enabled in the BIOS menu Main tab? Jack E/NJ

@JackE, yes it is. I also figured using disk management that the hidden partion is still there, taking up 9gb of space. Trying to figure how to retrieve the data and make a bootable usb. Any other ideas?

Does this mean you're still able to boot into Win8.1 to use Disk Mgt? Jack E/NJ

@JackE yes I am using windows 8.1 at the moment, sorry I didn`t make that clear. I just want to make a clean install after 3 years of use, the computer has gotten pretty slow

OK. Open Disk Mgt. What are the names of the partitions and are they all deemed healthy? Jack E/NJ  PS: Turn off any non-Microsoft automatic virus or malware scanners.

OK. Seems like no hardware issues. Let's try the ALT+F10 cold boot again. Don't wait for the logo screen to appear to press ALT and tap F10. If you still get the same error, go back to Disk Mgt. Right click on EFI partition. Click properties. Click tools. Check drive for errors. May take a while. Jack E/NJ

@JackE - the blue screen 0xc000000f error persists. Unfortunately, all options but 'help' are grayed out in the Disk Mgt, either by right clicking on the partition or through action -> all tasks. I can only select the properties on the C:windows partition

OK. Go to minitool dot com. Click free tools. Download partition recovery tool. Run a system reserved scan if possible. If not, a full scan. If still no joy, you're probably gonna have to order the recovery USB or DVD as suggested by @Acer-Blayn in the second post above. ~$45 from https://store.acer.com/en-us/extended/recovery/     Jack E/NJ

On the remote chance that your system was infected with low-level malware that's hard to detect by Defender or non-Microsoft scanners, I suggest that you download and run a full scan of the 64-bit standlalone executable McAfee Stinger freeware on the system.  https://www.mcafee.com/sg/downloads/free-tools/stinger.aspx  If it picks up and isolates anything, it might help to at least speed up the system even if it can't be reset from the hidden recovery partition.
