E 528 new battery

My battery died (I think), and I bought a replacement, and installed it.  And now I'm getting some strange readings from the battery icon in the lower right corner, and from the charging light.

I put the new battery in place, connected the charger to the computer, and he orange charging light came on.

And at the beginning, the battery icon read 2 percent charged, and 3 minutes until fully charged (that would be a dream. smile.).  After about an hour, it clicked down to two minutes.  Then about 30 minutes later it clicked down to one minute, and then time left finally dissappeared with a reading of about 80 percent charged.

It kept going until reaching 100 percent on the indicator.

But the charging light was still orange.

So I left it plugged in for approximately another 10 hours, and the light was still orange.

Or in other words, the percent charge indicator, charging time, and charging light went nuts.

How do I fix it?  Help!

The battery you bought isn't recognized byy your laptop.

    You can try this

    1) Disconnect AC
    2) Shutdown
    3) Remove battery
    4) Connect AC
    5) Startup
    6) Under the Batteries category, right-click the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listing, and select Uninstall. Do this for each instance (I had 2 batteries installed, so 2 instances. Most users will only have 1).
    7) Shutdown
    8) Disconnect AC
    9) Insert battery
    10) Connect AC
    11) Startup

If this doesn't work, you need to find a better battery. Model E 528 doesn't compute.
