Acer Aspire XC-705 multiboot problem

I have an Acer Aspire XC-705 that has the Windows 10 it came with plus openSUSE and Linux Mint installed. Neither of the Linux distros can boot the other, though each can boot itself and Windows. I can use efibootmgr within a running system to switch which bootloader is run by default, but I would prefer to be able to control which system boots at startup directly, so I am looking to use the firmware boot menu.

Unfortunately, the firmware boot menu (F12) only lists Windows as bootable and does not show either of the linux distributions. Clearly the firmware does actually know about them, since I can use efibootmgr to activate them at the next boot. How can I get the firmware to display all installed operating systems in its boot menu.

I've been unable to find any documentation for the Acer BIOS boot menu for this machine.

I've been unable to find any options within the BIOS menus themselves to change the boot menu.

I've not found anything useful by searching the web.

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers, Dave
