K242HQK help needed with repair.

I am attempting to repair the K242HQK but cannot find anything online about it. There is a black stripe about 2" wide covering the entire left portion of the screen. I have narrowed it down to  the upper left-most ribbon cable or the PCB that the ribbons connect to. This started out as a simple cleaning job until a coworker messed with the ribbon and now there is the stripe with a smaller faint green stripe inside.

I can give more information if need be.

Thanks!

EDIT: I am also curious about the metal strip that runs across the LCD ribbon cables.

What did the co-worker do to the ribbon cable? Is it possible he zapped something with static?

Static could be the culprit. The monitor wasn't stripped down to the board, only the LCD. The job was supposed to be to clean under the LCD and on the backlight but he may have "tugged" on an LCD ribbon. It could also be the PCB that connects to the black cable shown in your photo.

I talked to Acer support and they said to ship it in for repair so I may send it out today.

If he pulled on the ling narrow ribbon, it couls easily have pulled the ribbon out from under the connector a tiny bit and it doesn't take much.
