Refresh Rate Num (Smaller text?)

Hi,

The monitor works great as it is supposedly so. However, can i check if Acer will ever consider giving the option to resize the refresh rate number, and also to change its position?

As it stands now the number is too big and distracting.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this though. Thanks! Smiley Happy

FRAPS, eVGA Precision, RivaTuner, and several other programs are all capable of displaying your Frames per Second in game. All of them are free. I recommend FRAPS if you are looking to ONLY see your FPS in game, but if you want to potentially overclock your GPU down the line, eVGA Precision is a great tool.

tl:dr install FRAPS (http://www.fraps.com/download.php) and use the FPS counter overlay (customisable) instead of the one that is built into the monitor.

    Hi Vandragorax,

Thanks for the suggestion. The difference with fraps and the refresh num is that one display the refresh rate of the monitor, while the other display FPS. Essentially, the only way to know if gsync is working correctly is the variable refresh rate displayed.

Kind of inconvenient to having to turn it on and off all the time to check. I'll think it will be advantageous if we can have it smaller so that its less distracting.

    Many thanks.

If you're trying to tell whether g-sync is working or not, I would suggest using the NVIDIA overlay:

    • Right click on your desktop
    • Select NVIDIA Control Panel
    • Select "Display" on the top tool bar (not on the left-menu)
    • Turn on or off "G-SYNC Indicator"

This is the only real way to tell if it's working or not, but you should be able to test with a few games and settings with the overlay on just to put yourself at ease, then turn it off again once you're happy with the setup Smiley Happy

On a side note, I believe there are still driver issues with g-sync in windowed mode, despite the option being there in the control panel.  I've had it cause issues such as in Diablo 3 tanking the frame rate down to 15.  As soon as I changed the g-sync settings to fullscreen only, it stops causing this frame rate tanking in windowed games (since I have to run D3 in a window to get it at 3440x1440).

I hope this helps Smiley Happy

    Hi Vandra.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried going to my nvidia control panel, but don't see the display tap at all.

I'm using a dual monitor setup (271HU on DP, another Phillips on HDMI).

    Any recommendations?

    Thanks! Smiley Happy

Sometimes you have to select an item in the "display" section on the left-hand side before the "Display" option will appear in the menu along the top.  Make sure to try this Smiley Happy

This is what you're looking for, see how they have "set up g-sync" selected on the left, and there is a "Display" option along the top of the window, 4th from the left (File > Edit > Desktop > Display):

You're welcome Smiley Happy The indicator gets in the way or normal gaming, but it lets you at least test your settings etc. and you can be sure that the g-sync is working correctly.  Then just turn the indicator off again!
