Iconia 8W black screen fixes?

Just wondering if theres any known fixes/workarounds for the "sleep" error on the Iconia tabs yet? I've had no problem with mine up until now... and of course I need it as I'm doing a business road show today. Figures.

I've tried the thirty second press of the power button. Still comes on in sleep mode.

I've tried the hard resest (holding down volume up and power) and it still comes on in sleep mode.

Running out of ideas (and patience) with a six month old product that was, up until this morning, perfect. Smiley Sad

    Hello,

I have the same problem... I've just bought a brand new Iconia 8w and in just a hour I experienced the same problem.

I think it is not in sleep mode because when I try to connect an external storage the storage does not respond, and normaly in sleep mode external storages should still respond even though the device is on it's sleep mode.

It is not even on hibernate mode because when I plug the charger the device doesnt recognizes it.

the only thing that I do is I hold the power button a few seconds to force shutdown it... but, I'm afraid because I think that f I continue doing this I might damage the device.

I've tried such things: refreshing it, updating, power settings and etc. but still the problem is still there...

    Anyone?

    Dear All,

I purchased my iconia not long after Christmas, and the second time I attempted to use it, it refused to show anything, apart from a slightly lighter shade of black. I plugged it into my computer ( of course it could not be seen by the computer as it was also running windows) and also connected it to the mains. The next morning, it was working just fine, apart from the fact the top was boiling hot. When the free windows 10 upgrade came to my iconia, I took the opportunity of upgrading it, but to my up most dismay, this only caused more problems for me and my iconia. Windows 10 takes up a lot of space, and as the iconia only has a small 32GB memory, this made matters worse. I found that I started to get memory management errors as well, and the blank screen issue just became worse. I conclude from this that the black screen issue is somehow related to the lack of memory to run a whole operating system!

Hope someone finds a solution soon!

Your problems do not sound normal, especially if the back is getting hot up near the top. That's where the graphics chips are. I think it'd be worthwhile, especially since you are still in warranty, to contact Acer support and see if they can do a repair for you. If I were a betting man I'd bet the heat sink on the graphics subsystem isn't doing what it's supposed to, and the blank screen is a symptom of the chips overheating and shutting down.
