Computer frequently turns off one of the graphic cards

I have an Acer Aspire with two graphic cards. One is an Intel, the other one is an ATO Mobility Radeon HD 5650 with 1GB. My problem is that my computer frequently shuts of the Intel card and I have to install the drivers again. I am not sure what triggers it, but it might be related to the fact that the computer likes to change graphic mode when I am not using the charger cable.

This is very annoying and I can't find any settings that would help stop it. If anyone has any kind of help, I would be very grateful.

The computer should switch between the graphics cards as it needs. If it is not properly switching, you may try reloading Windows to get your drivers straightened out.

Yes, I think the switching is what it originates from, but for some reason, it only switches off, and never back on again. If I can't find any other solution, I guess I will have to reinstalol windows.
