iconia w8 black screen with the last app i last opened

I was doing my assignment when the tab lagged and turn into black and when it came into only a small box appeared white on the upper side. It side it seems that i can move the box for it is the application i last opened before the tab malfunctioned although the things i can do is limited from navigating it and only the part that is shown, i cant search even if the search bar is present and I kept on clicking it. Nor can I exit the app. I think the problem goes with its memory running low thing. Just how can i fix this!!! I need this for school.

You might lose data entered but not saved, but you can press and hold the power button for 30 seconds or so until it turns off. Wait a little bit and turn it back on.
