Two Monitors on Fire

I purchased two Acer S211HLbd monitors in 2010. Both of them (on separate occasions) caught fire. Each time, the screen cycled power several times. Then, the monitor began to smoke out of the power connector. The cable and the plastic on the back of the monitor melted.

Neither monitor caused any problems before this. I am unable to chat with Acer because they are out of warranty. Is there anything Acer will do for faulty equipment? At least issue a recall on the product?

    Hi mike,

Wow, that's concerning. Fire and melting are definitely two things you never want to have to deal with when it comes to electronics. If you would, send me a private message with your contact information and I'll be glad to have someone from our team reach out to you.
