Hi everyone, I'm Mike. I'm a newbie here and hoping for some help with my Aspire 5735

Hi, as above, I bought the Aspire 5735 several years ago now. It's running Vista Home Premium SP2 and has become excruciatingly slow. When first booted up it becomes unusable for quite a while during which there appears to be continuous disk activity. I've tried to look in Task Manager to see what's going on but that itself takes an age to launch and then doesn't show anything unusual. I've also tried all the usual tricks such as disk cleanup, defrag and even resorted to CCleaner and clearing out the prefetch folder but to no avail.

I've finally decided the only option is to use the two recovery disks that I created when it was new to try and restore it to factory condition but I can't find any information on how to do the recovery. If anyone can help with this I'd be most grateful.

Hi Laurent, thanks for that. I've become so senile that I'd forgotten which function key was used to get into the BIOS. Smiley Very Happy

I just thought I'd update on this. I visited the Windows Vista forum with my problem and as a result of suggestions posted there I think it's been resolved so I haven't needed to use the recovery discs - yet!
