my new battery is not detected by Aspire 5735,though i can use the battery without AC adpter.

My laptop (Aspire5735) is a couple of years old and the battery's performance slowly degraded to the point of no longer carrying a charge.

I ordered a new battery, this one being high capacity. I installed it, rebooted, and now the I have a red X over the charge meter (Windows 7 tray) and the fly-out says the battery is not detected.

When I force a battery driver update search, windows tells me that the latest/best driver is already installed.

In the device manager, I uninstalled the battery, then rebooted again. The OS searched for, then re-installed the driver thought best. No change- new battery still not detected.

Any suggestions?
