w700p plugged in not charging

I havent seen a recent post on this issue and wondering if Acer has solved it yet.

My Acer Iconia W700p works fine as long as it's plugged in but will not work on battery at all.

The battery status indicator reads "96% Plugged in, not charging" and the power light is a solid orange.

I have tried all the things I have found on the web and sometimes they work for a week or so, but it always goes back to not working.  Things I have tried:

1) Upgrade/downgrade.  I have had this problem (1) on factory settings (win 8), (2) upgrading to Win 8.1 and (3) using Win 10.  Seems to make no difference

2) Reinstalling all the drivers:  I have done this multiple times.  This sometimes works, but is not reliable.  Seems to be the intel drivers that usually fix the problem when I reinstall them.  Cradle driver may play a role, I cannot tell.  I will update all the drivers, then a day or so later, the problem resolves...I can't tell which fix I made resolved the problem.  It's not immediate.

3) BIOS upgrade: I am pretty sure I upgraded the BIOS at one point in time but I cannot find the documentation for what I did.  I believe this may have fixed the problem for a period.

What is odd is that the fixes never seem to be permanent:  the problem ALWAYS reoccurs.  This is incredibly frustrating...I have restored factory settings on this machine like 3x trying to get to the bottom of this. I am about ready to give up and NEVER buy an Acer again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, or if you'd like to buy a win tablet that doesn't work unless it's plugged in , let me know :-).

Are you sure you don't have a hardware issue, such as a loose battery cable or bad battery?

Yes, pretty sure.  The problem originally occurred immediately after upgrading from windows 8 to windows 8.1, so I am pretty convinced it's software issue.  I have since rolled back and restored all factory settings but it still doesn't work

It's not too hard to open the case up, and I'd think checking the battery connection would make sure it's not the hardware.

There s a program called BatteryInfoView that can display the state of the battery at any time and keep a continuous log life that can help determine what is going on. It sounds like you are either experiencine a slow degredation of the battery or a sudden loss. A log file can tell you which.
