How to have access to the bios setup?

Dear All,

Windows 10 is now running well on my Aspire One 721.

I wish to be able to recover from a USB memory stick.

How do I enter bios to change the boot drive?

There are many (different) 'solutions' mentioned in the manual and on the internet, but none of them works for me.

Who can help me?

The bios version 1.18.

Thanks and regards from KeesGijs

if you laptop has a standard BIOS, you can only try to enter BIOS pressing F2 at boot.

    Thank you for your reply.

I assume that Acer offers a 'standard' (?) bios version 1.18.

    Using F2 has no effect.

Any known Windows 10 side effect?

    Try one thing:

open the HDD cover, take off the HDD and try to boot to BIOS.

sometimes windows 10 creates problem on accessing BIOS, mostly on UEFI machine.

have you already checked about booting to UEFI settings from advanced windows options?

I am not eager to open the notebook hardware.

The advanced settings do not allow me to access the BIOS (it does work on another Samsung laptop with W10).

The "official" procedure for a 721 is:

    1. Turn on the notebook. If the computer is already turned on, save your data and close all open applications, then restart the computer.
    2. Press F2 when the Press <F2> to enter Setup prompt appears on the bottom of the screen.

Is this not being diisplayed ?

I should work this way, but it doesn't.

    The message does not appear.

It might have a fast boot setting in the BIOS that doesn't display the 'Press F2' message. Try pressing the F2 as soon as you power it on, and keep on clicking until setup appears.

i understand you but sometimes windows 10 locks you out of BIOS access, the only way to regain BIOS access is to took off the HDD and then boot without the HDD inserted pressing F2.

if your laptop had legacy only BIOS, the advanced settings (boot to UEFI) will not work.
