My 32 gb sandisk card was not detected and I can't remove it! How do I get it back out and insert it properly?

Heheh, they all look the same to me these days. Smiley Happy

So the SD card inserts and stays clicked in, then the spring pushes it back out when you press it again? If the card were reversed it wouldn't click into place, I don't think... Did any part of the card get damaged when it was in the wrong place, like the gold fingers?

The slot has a little spring that pushes the card back out when you press it again. That being said, I've heard reports on other machines where if the slot is slightly misaligned you can push the card into the case without it actually going into the card slot. In that case if you can grab it with tweezers or something you have to open it up to remove the card. Look at your closely to see if you might have the same type of issue.

Thanks, Billsey. The misaligned slot seems to be what is going on.  The card is too far in to reach with tweezers. Do I need to remove the back, and if so how?

Yes you'll need to open it up to get it out. There are several models in the Iconia Tab 8 line, do you know which one is yours? Sould be something like A1-840...

Not too hard to take the cover off. Just gently pry it off, probably easiest to start down at the bottom by the charger port. Work your way around until it's all free.

Managed to get the back off and get the card properly inserted. However, it still is not recognized. BTW, the charger port is on the top of this model. ????

The card looks fine no damage and it is inserted properly. It is a SanDisk Ultra microSDHC UHS - I. I installed an identical card in my moto G Android phone and it works fine.

Give the problem one a try in your phone just to verify it's recognized. I can't think of anything right off that would cause it to not work if the card is good...

I took out the card and checked it on my pc and couldn't access it, and when I removed it from the reader it broke, so I guess it did get damaged! Tried the sdhc from my Roku in the tablet, which was recognized right off. Thanks for the help. With the slot misalignment think I'll stick with Dropbox!
