Hi,

I downloaded the only driver provided by acer for my device. it's the USB-driver, needed to connect to PCs.

- No install files (bat only)
- No manual or readme (assosiated with the driver)
- Signature error in windows when executing the BAT file
- Unable to execute BAT file as admin as bat isn't a program (managed to by using "CMD-admin" + "CD\"  it but still no luck)

Basically i can't connect to any pc, hell even acerEXTEND ask me to connect to a pc via USB even though i am connected acerEXTEND can't see my pc?!?!

PS. can't even benefit from online support as an error in the system as my warranty expired eventhough ACER admited my waranty was valid over email.

    - win 7 ultimate

(the manual claim that ACERextend is only compatible with win8, lets not go into detail on how retarded that is as i could not care lace about "acer's apps")

    - So lets focus on manual install of USB driver...
    - There is also the posiblity that the cable is defective, but it charges an was brand news, so lesslikely

when you connect the Z410 to your PC, can you check under Device Manager if any Yellow exclamation mark is present?

you can try to install the drivers browsing: smartPhoneDriver\x64 and double click dpinst.exe

been 2 weeks i've been repeating all that troubleshoot info with retarded replies... i can see you are aproaching this the right way, unlike SUPPORT!

    here's some more answers

Usb wont apear in device manager... not even a conection attempts sound. (but charges fine)
    - So no, and no TShooting can be done from the PC due to that answer

AcerEXTEND also can't see the PC when asking to connect the usb ( regardless of the compatibility )
    - stuck at step 3... "connect usb to laptop"

I tried 2 version of the "official driver" (form ACER & a UniversalAdbDriver)
    - I couldn't get my VM to connect the usbs so i didn't try the "*.exe stuff out there" as i don't trust that 3rd party stuff

DebugMode for USB is turned on in my settings (since the first time i tried using airdroid)
    - i also reset and re check the option after installing a new driver, just in case

The more I talk the more i see nothing else BUT - defective wire - I am new to android so can't trust my gut, but it wouldn't be the first time i get a brand new SEALED product to contain FAKE chargers in Asia.

    Anywho, tanks for helping

    Also........

I tried on 2 PC (both running win7 ultimate)
    - HP elitebook
    - Acer Aspire

As well as using USB 2 & USB3 jacks

I mean i know how to troubleshoot issues... just don't not how to fix stupid... corporate, cultural or otherwise!?

the exe stuff is part of the Acer drivers installer, so nothing third party.

no sound on connecting the Z410 is not a good behaviour, have you tried to enable "show hidden devices" under View tab on device manager?

sometimes ADB unknow device, will be hidden by windows.

i would suggest you to disable USB debuggin, just to narrow a little the driver issue, by the way if you still have the issue....last thing to try is to do a factory reset on your Z410.

backup your personal data before do it.

    settings/backup&reset - factory data reset

if this doesn't solve.....it's time for a replacement or a fix from Acer support service.

Yep, no hidden device (it was brand new so i didn't if they do or don't make a sound)

Sounds like wire or phone itself...... at least that's what i think their last email means, i can't really understand anything they say!

    Dear Sir ,

With all due respect to you good sir, we are not after delays or alibies that you blame to us.
In fact, we did not even specified anything about compatibilities or what ever it is that you tell us discrediting the questions we ask. A simple description that your Z410 smart phone cannot be detected by your Windows 7 computer using the USB cable on its package. It cannot be seen on the Computer menu as USB device or drive which should be automatic plug and play when connected to each other but the cable charges the phone.

With this given problem, your idea of cable problem is possible but it may also be the mainboard of the unit. One way to disclose this is of course to use another extra USB cable if you have one and check if the same results will appear but if it happen that you don't have extra USB cable to use, then having it check thru our service will be the option to take so that we can help further checking everything given our advantage of having the necessary tools and parts to be use. On the other hand, we still apologized if you happen to think that we did not understand your problem but for the sake of clarifications, Mirroring description to us is literally mirroring the unit to the computer using the Acer Extend that we know Z410 product has and we can assure that it is compatible also with Windows 7.

    Thank you very much!

they said that can be a bad USB cable and to check with another cable or a faulty motherboard on your Z410.

i agree, try another cable just to be sure and then give Acer support service a call and let them check your Z410.

Just a quick question... What is your ultimate reason for connecting your phone to your PC ?
To transfer files back and forth ? or for actual adb debugging, etc.. ?

OK, I have a zest plus (not a Z410) but should be similar (since I've had this issue on other phones also).

First of all, not all cables are designed for data transfer.  I know that the cable that came with my old Moto G was truely a charging cable only.  I even buzzed the pins, and none of the data pins were not even connected.  The charging only cable used a heavier guage of wire, to allow quicker charging.   But you can connect the cable as many times as as you want, it will never be seen by any device Smiley Happy

Anyhow, you can check the cable, and I will assume further on that the cable good.

When you plug in the cable to your Windows PC, you say there is nothing in device manager.  Usually when PC recognizes the device it will initially put it under "other" category (with an exclamation), and once the driver installs (assuming it doesn't fail), it usually goes under category of "Portable Devices".  If it fails, it will remain under the "other" category.  So if you don't have the phone listed under "other" with exclamation and not under "Portable devices", then odds are the problem is not the PC (unless USB port is dead).  It is either cable, or something on phone.

For my Zest plus, under Windows 7 ultimate, I did not need to install any drivers...  HOWEVER.. When I initially plugged it in, I got no sounds as if it detected it.  So I swiped down on my screen to see if there are any notifications, and even though there was no notification icons, there was a message hidden.  See image below, which is what I saw when I swiped down:

    Screenshot2.jpg

So basically, by default the phone was in charging mode only, and no data exchange was available..
So I clicked on the message and got the option to change this.

    Screenshot.jpg

So I selected "File Transfers" option and low an behold, windows made the familiar new device sound, and it automatically installed the required drivers, witout needing the drivers from acer web site.

I just checked my kids phone (running kitkat [4.4.2] - which I think is simlar to what the Z410 runs), and it is similar except the messages are phrased slightly different.  They say "connected as charging device" and then when I click the notification, I have a choice of 4 options, but it is similar principle.

PS: Forgive the editting of the pics to blur out the background images, but I use a pic of my kids as my background, so I don't want that floating all over the internet.

    I hope this helps

    Good luck
