Z35 Ghosting

I got a Z35 yesterday and noticed very quickly there are some ghosting issues with the monitor! It's generally noticeable on dark games, such as Elite Dangerous. Some games such as GTA 5 don't seem to have any ghosting at all.

I made a video showing the ghosting in Elite Dangerous. Overdrive is set to normal (Extreme doesn't make much of an improvement, and Off is much worse), and is running 120fps G-Sync. I've also tried 120fps ULMB but that just seems to swap the dark ghosting with light ghosting instead!

The effect is even worse than the video shows.

Is there a problem with the monitor, or is it just a limitation of the VA panel?

I am still very pleased with my monitor but ghosting seems to be a weakness of the Z35.

It was very limited in the games I played initially and I also think that for some reasons it can be more pronounced in some games and at some refresh rates than others.

I connected my PS4 and tried FIFA 16: I experienced a lot of ghosting with teams that had red jerseys ! It seems to mean that transition from red pixels (players) to green (grass) was very bad, especially in this non g-sync and 60 fps scenario.

At first I had the overdrive set to max value, It introduced some reverse-ghosting in some games, so now I generally  use the intermediate setting (called "normal" I think).

From my experience, Ghosting is much more pronounced in 60 Hz and/or non g-sync scenarios. When games run at full speed (100 fps and above) and when I activate G-sync, ghosting might still be there but not to the point where I notice it.

Thanks for that. It sounds like I either need to return the monitor and get a refund, or get used to some games suffering from ghosting!

I've been looking forward to the Z35 for months, but the ghosting was too much for me to handle, especially in shooters and action games with dark environments. Kept it for a few days, and tried to look past it, but ultimately couldn't. Boxed it up today and sent it back for a refund.

If the extreme ghosting is a bug of some sort and gets resolved, I'll buy another one of these in a heartbeat. Loved everything else about the monitor.

I also purched Acer Z35 and noticed ghosting. The issue with ghosting is resolved by turning the "game mode - ON" in monitor menu settings. For some reason it is disabled by default.

I would like to add to my previous post. Turning on game mode is not necessary for ghosting to go away. It is enough to turn on a second from the left setting called OD. OD - NORMAL works best for me in games and text based applications, with game mode off and brightness/contrast set to 50/50
